The locals in Vigo take their traditions very seriously and put on marvellous festivals for the entertainment of the city.


Festival Aéreo Vigo

Festival Aéreo Internacional de Vigo (International Vigo Air Show) takes place every year around July to August. The beach show can be enjoyed from the beautiful beaches of Samil, facing the Cies Islands. More than 200.000 spectators' visit the Air Show.

The Reconquista

El Dia de la Reconquista commemorates the reconquest of Vigo to Napoleon's troops, which occurred on March 28, 1809. This celebration, and the next two centuries, will be the main signs of identity de Vigo and with it seeks to promote among vigués values of dedication and love for their city. So this festival starts on March 28 of every year.

Voices of Vigo

This is a festival promoting musical and vocal performances, which takes place on 24th July of every year in Vigo.

Vigofolcelta Fiesta

This is a Celtic festival which is upkept in Vigo and many other towns in the Galician region. It involves part of the town being temporarily “dressed” as it would have been in medieval times. There will also be a number of stalls and markets themed to the event. It takes place between 13 - 19th of July.

Semana Grande

This fiesta actually relates to the patron saint of the city, Saint Mary (15 August), but the events itself takes place on the first Sunday of August.

Vigo International Jazz Festival

The Vigo International Jazz Festival - Imaxina Sons - was originally organized in order to fill the demand that exists here for jazz music. It also aims to present new trends in jazz from the rest of Europe and to reflect the current situation of jazz in Galicia and the rest of Spain.

The Are-More Classical Music Festival has gradually become an important event in classical music. Artists have included some of the best voices of the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st.
